With immense effort only did Giselle then manage to stagger home, her body depleted of all strength. Looking at her own reflection in the mirror, she shivered. From both fear and the cold. Her hair was a gnarled mess sticking to the sides of her face and neck, and her face bruised from the savage beatings The Beast had inflicted on her when she struggled and attempted to escape. Not being able to bear the filthy sight of herself for a nanosecond longer, she fled to the safety of her bathroom and turning on the shower with full force, Giselle started scratching against her skin frantically. This attempt to rid every cell within her clean and pure was futile however, for the memory of the horrific incident that had taken place was still fresh in her mind. Giselle's skin was red and raw from her clawing but nevertheless she continued, until finally letting out an anguished sob.

Upon stepping out of the bathroom, Giselle's mobile phone began ringing as if on cue. 'Harper', the display read. Giselle froze. Harper was the very last person she wished to face right now. With trembling fingers, she pressed the answer key on the mobile. Her heart soared upon hearing Harper's voice - that voice so warm, so affectionate, so soothing, and so loving. Yet her stomach did a backflip and started churning. Words would not form on her lips despite her efforts to utter something remotely audible.

"Giselle? Hello, you there?"
"H-harrr-per,"Giselle weeped softly.
"What's wrong? You don't sound so good. Need me to pop over?" the voice asked, full of concern.
"NO!" screamed Giselle, as if on reflex, before she could even process any information. Snapping her phone shut, she fell down beside her soft, inviting bed and once again started a woeful sob.

Giselle didn't know for how long she sat down there, just crying as the reality of what had just happened caught up with her. Harsh yet real.

Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang. Giselle snapped up her head, her train of thought broken. For now.
